وَإِذْ
And when
أَخَذَ
took
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
مِيثَٰقَ
a Covenant
ٱلَّذِينَ
(from) those who
أُوتُوا۟
were given
ٱلْكِتَٰبَ
the Book,
لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُۥ
"You certainly make it clear
لِلنَّاسِ
to the mankind
وَلَا and (do) not تَكْتُمُونَهُۥ conceal it. فَنَبَذُوهُ Then they threw it وَرَآءَ behind ظُهُورِهِمْ their backs وَٱشْتَرَوْا۟ and they exchanged بِهِۦ [with] it ثَمَنًا (for) a price
قَلِيلًا little. فَبِئْسَ And wretched مَا (is) what يَشْتَرُونَ they purchase. لَا (Do) not تَحْسَبَنَّ think ٱلَّذِينَ (that) those who يَفْرَحُونَ rejoice بِمَآ in what
أَتَوا۟ (they have) brought وَّيُحِبُّونَ and they love أَن that يُحْمَدُوا۟ they be praised بِمَا for what لَمْ not يَفْعَلُوا۟ they do - فَلَا so (do) not تَحْسَبَنَّهُم think (that) they
بِمَفَازَةٍ (will) escape مِّنَ from ٱلْعَذَابِ the punishment; وَلَهُمْ and for them عَذَابٌ (is a) punishment أَلِيمٌ painful. وَلِلَّهِ And for Allah مُلْكُ (is the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth, وَٱللَّهُ and Allah عَلَىٰ (is) on كُلِّ every شَىْءٍ thing قَدِيرٌ All-Powerful. إِنَّ Indeed, فِى in
خَلْقِ (the) creation ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth وَٱخْتِلَٰفِ and (in the) alternation ٱلَّيْلِ (of) the night وَٱلنَّهَارِ and the day لَءَايَٰتٍ (are) surely Signs
لِّأُو۟لِى for men ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ (of) understanding. ٱلَّذِينَ Those who يَذْكُرُونَ remember ٱللَّهَ Allah قِيَٰمًا standing, وَقُعُودًا and sitting
وَعَلَىٰ and on جُنُوبِهِمْ their sides وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ and they reflect فِى on خَلْقِ (the) creation ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth,
رَبَّنَا "Our Lord, مَا not خَلَقْتَ You have created هَٰذَا this بَٰطِلًا (in) vain. سُبْحَٰنَكَ Glory be to You, فَقِنَا so save us عَذَابَ (from the) punishment ٱلنَّارِ (of) the Fire.
رَبَّنَآ Our Lord, إِنَّكَ indeed [You] مَن whom تُدْخِلِ You admit ٱلنَّارَ (to) the Fire فَقَدْ then surely أَخْزَيْتَهُۥ You (have) disgraced him, وَمَا and not لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ for the wrongdoers مِنْ (are) any
أَنصَارٍ helpers. رَّبَّنَآ Our Lord, إِنَّنَا indeed we سَمِعْنَا [we] heard مُنَادِيًا a caller يُنَادِى calling لِلْإِيمَٰنِ to the faith أَنْ that
ءَامِنُوا۟ "Believe بِرَبِّكُمْ in your Lord," فَـَٔامَنَّا so we have believed. رَبَّنَا Our Lord فَٱغْفِرْ so forgive لَنَا for us ذُنُوبَنَا our sins وَكَفِّرْ and remove عَنَّا from us
سَيِّـَٔاتِنَا our evil deeds, وَتَوَفَّنَا and cause us to die مَعَ with ٱلْأَبْرَارِ the righteous. رَبَّنَا Our Lord, وَءَاتِنَا grant us مَا what وَعَدتَّنَا You promised us عَلَىٰ through
رُسُلِكَ Your Messengers وَلَا and (do) not تُخْزِنَا disgrace us يَوْمَ (on the) Day ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ (of) [the] Resurrection. إِنَّكَ Indeed, You لَا (do) not تُخْلِفُ break ٱلْمِيعَادَ the promise."
