قَالَا
Both of them said,
رَبَّنَا
"Our Lord
ظَلَمْنَآ
we have wronged
أَنفُسَنَا
ourselves,
وَإِن
and if
لَّمْ
not
تَغْفِرْ
You forgive
لَنَا
[for] us
وَتَرْحَمْنَا
and have mercy (on) us,
لَنَكُونَنَّ
surely, we will be
مِنَ among ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ the losers." قَالَ (Allah) said, ٱهْبِطُوا۟ "Get down بَعْضُكُمْ some of you لِبَعْضٍ to some others عَدُوٌّ (as) enemy. وَلَكُمْ And for you
فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth مُسْتَقَرٌّ (is) a dwelling place وَمَتَٰعٌ and livelihood إِلَىٰ for حِينٍ a time." قَالَ He said, فِيهَا "In it تَحْيَوْنَ you will live وَفِيهَا and in it
تَمُوتُونَ you will die وَمِنْهَا and from it تُخْرَجُونَ you will be brought forth." يَٰبَنِىٓ O Children ءَادَمَ (of) Adam! قَدْ Verily أَنزَلْنَا We have sent down عَلَيْكُمْ to you
لِبَاسًا clothing, يُوَٰرِى it covers سَوْءَٰتِكُمْ your shame وَرِيشًا and (as) an adornment. وَلِبَاسُ But the clothing ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ (of) [the] righteousness - ذَٰلِكَ that خَيْرٌ (is) best.
ذَٰلِكَ That مِنْ (is) from ءَايَٰتِ (the) Signs ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah لَعَلَّهُمْ so that they may يَذَّكَّرُونَ remember. يَٰبَنِىٓ O Children ءَادَمَ (of) Adam! لَا (Let) not يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ tempt you
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ [the] Shaitaan كَمَآ as أَخْرَجَ he drove out أَبَوَيْكُم your parents مِّنَ from ٱلْجَنَّةِ Paradise, يَنزِعُ stripping عَنْهُمَا from both of them
لِبَاسَهُمَا their clothing لِيُرِيَهُمَا to show both of them سَوْءَٰتِهِمَآ their shame. إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he يَرَىٰكُمْ sees you - هُوَ he وَقَبِيلُهُۥ and his tribe مِنْ from
حَيْثُ where لَا not تَرَوْنَهُمْ you see them. إِنَّا Indeed, جَعَلْنَا We have made ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ the devils أَوْلِيَآءَ friends لِلَّذِينَ of those who لَا (do) not يُؤْمِنُونَ believe.
وَإِذَا And when فَعَلُوا۟ they do فَٰحِشَةً immorality قَالُوا۟ they say, وَجَدْنَا "We found عَلَيْهَآ on it ءَابَآءَنَا our forefathers وَٱللَّهُ and Allah أَمَرَنَا (has) ordered us
بِهَا of it." قُلْ Say, إِنَّ "Indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah لَا (does) not يَأْمُرُ order بِٱلْفَحْشَآءِ immorality. أَتَقُولُونَ Do you say عَلَى about ٱللَّهِ Allah مَا what لَا not تَعْلَمُونَ you know?"
قُلْ Say, أَمَرَ "(Has been) ordered رَبِّى (by) my Lord, بِٱلْقِسْطِ justice وَأَقِيمُوا۟ and set وُجُوهَكُمْ your faces عِندَ at كُلِّ every مَسْجِدٍ masjid
وَٱدْعُوهُ and invoke Him مُخْلِصِينَ (being) sincere لَهُ to Him ٱلدِّينَ (in) the religion. كَمَا As بَدَأَكُمْ He originated you تَعُودُونَ (so) will you return."
فَرِيقًا A group هَدَىٰ He guided وَفَرِيقًا and a group حَقَّ deserved - عَلَيْهِمُ [on] they ٱلضَّلَٰلَةُ the astraying. إِنَّهُمُ Indeed, they ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ take
ٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ the devils أَوْلِيَآءَ (as) allies مِن from دُونِ besides ٱللَّهِ Allah وَيَحْسَبُونَ while they think أَنَّهُم that they مُّهْتَدُونَ (are the) guided-ones.
