وَٱضْرِبْ And set forth
لَهُم to them مَّثَلًا the example رَّجُلَيْنِ of two men: جَعَلْنَا We provided لِأَحَدِهِمَا for one of them جَنَّتَيْنِ two gardens مِنْ of أَعْنَٰبٍ grapes, وَحَفَفْنَٰهُمَا and We bordered them
بِنَخْلٍ with date-palms, وَجَعَلْنَا and We placed بَيْنَهُمَا between both of them زَرْعًا crops.
كِلْتَا Each ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ (of) the two gardens ءَاتَتْ brought forth أُكُلَهَا its produce وَلَمْ and not

وَكَانَ And was لَهُۥ for him ثَمَرٌ fruit, فَقَالَ so he said
لِصَٰحِبِهِۦ to his companion وَهُوَ while he يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ (was) talking with him, أَنَا۠ "I am أَكْثَرُ greater مِنكَ than you مَالًا (in) wealth وَأَعَزُّ and stronger نَفَرًا (in) men."
