هُنَالِكَ
There only,
دَعَا
invoked
زَكَرِيَّا
Zakariya
رَبَّهُۥ
his Lord,
قَالَ
he said,
رَبِّ
"My Lord
هَبْ
grant
لِى
[for] me
مِن
from
لَّدُنكَ
Yourself
ذُرِّيَّةً
offspring
طَيِّبَةً pure. إِنَّكَ Indeed, You سَمِيعُ (are) All-Hearer ٱلدُّعَآءِ (of) the prayer فَنَادَتْهُ Then called him ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels وَهُوَ when he قَآئِمٌ (was) standing -
يُصَلِّى praying فِى in ٱلْمِحْرَابِ the prayer chamber. أَنَّ "Indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah يُبَشِّرُكَ gives you glad tidings بِيَحْيَىٰ of Yahya, مُصَدِّقًۢا confirming بِكَلِمَةٍ [of] a Word
مِّنَ from ٱللَّهِ Allah وَسَيِّدًا and a noble وَحَصُورًا and chaste وَنَبِيًّا and a Prophet مِّنَ among ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ the righteous. قَالَ He said, رَبِّ "My Lord
أَنَّىٰ how يَكُونُ can (there) be لِى for me غُلَٰمٌ a son, وَقَدْ and verily بَلَغَنِىَ has reached me ٱلْكِبَرُ [the] old age وَٱمْرَأَتِى and my wife عَاقِرٌ (is) [a] barren?" قَالَ He said,
كَذَٰلِكَ "Thus; ٱللَّهُ Allah يَفْعَلُ does مَا what يَشَآءُ He wills." قَالَ He said, رَبِّ "My Lord ٱجْعَل make لِّىٓ for me ءَايَةً a sign."
قَالَ He said, ءَايَتُكَ your sign أَلَّا (is) that not تُكَلِّمَ you will speak ٱلنَّاسَ (to) the people ثَلَٰثَةَ (for) three أَيَّامٍ days إِلَّا except رَمْزًا (with) gestures. وَٱذْكُر And remember
رَّبَّكَ your Lord كَثِيرًا much, وَسَبِّحْ and glorify (Him) بِٱلْعَشِىِّ in the evening وَٱلْإِبْكَٰرِ and (in) the morning." وَإِذْ And when قَالَتِ said
ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels, يَٰمَرْيَمُ "O Maryam! إِنَّ Indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah ٱصْطَفَىٰكِ (has) chosen you وَطَهَّرَكِ and purified you وَٱصْطَفَىٰكِ and chosen you
عَلَىٰ over نِسَآءِ (the) women ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ (of) the worlds." يَٰمَرْيَمُ "O Maryam! ٱقْنُتِى Be obedient لِرَبِّكِ to your Lord وَٱسْجُدِى and prostrate
وَٱرْكَعِى and bow down مَعَ with ٱلرَّٰكِعِينَ those who bow down." ذَٰلِكَ That مِنْ (is) from أَنۢبَآءِ (the) news ٱلْغَيْبِ (of) the unseen - نُوحِيهِ We reveal it إِلَيْكَ to you.
وَمَا And not كُنتَ you were لَدَيْهِمْ with them إِذْ when يُلْقُونَ they cast أَقْلَٰمَهُمْ their pens أَيُّهُمْ (as to) which of them يَكْفُلُ takes charge (of) مَرْيَمَ Maryam;
وَمَا and not كُنتَ you were لَدَيْهِمْ with them إِذْ when يَخْتَصِمُونَ they (were) disputing. إِذْ When قَالَتِ said ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels,
يَٰمَرْيَمُ "O Maryam! إِنَّ Indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah يُبَشِّرُكِ gives you glad tidings بِكَلِمَةٍ of a word مِّنْهُ from Him, ٱسْمُهُ his name ٱلْمَسِيحُ (is) the Messiah, عِيسَى Isa,
ٱبْنُ son مَرْيَمَ (of) Maryam, وَجِيهًا honored فِى in ٱلدُّنْيَا the world وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ and (in) the Hereafter, وَمِنَ and of ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ those brought near (to Allah).
طَيِّبَةً pure. إِنَّكَ Indeed, You سَمِيعُ (are) All-Hearer ٱلدُّعَآءِ (of) the prayer فَنَادَتْهُ Then called him ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels وَهُوَ when he قَآئِمٌ (was) standing -

قَالَ He said, ءَايَتُكَ your sign أَلَّا (is) that not تُكَلِّمَ you will speak ٱلنَّاسَ (to) the people ثَلَٰثَةَ (for) three أَيَّامٍ days إِلَّا except رَمْزًا (with) gestures. وَٱذْكُر And remember

يَٰمَرْيَمُ "O Maryam! إِنَّ Indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah يُبَشِّرُكِ gives you glad tidings بِكَلِمَةٍ of a word مِّنْهُ from Him, ٱسْمُهُ his name ٱلْمَسِيحُ (is) the Messiah, عِيسَى Isa,
ٱبْنُ son مَرْيَمَ (of) Maryam, وَجِيهًا honored فِى in ٱلدُّنْيَا the world وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ and (in) the Hereafter, وَمِنَ and of ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ those brought near (to Allah).
