إِنْ
Not
هَٰذَآ
(is) this
إِلَّا
but
خُلُقُ
(the) custom
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
(of) the former (people),
وَمَا
And not
نَحْنُ
we
بِمُعَذَّبِينَ
(are) the ones to be punished."
فَكَذَّبُوهُ
So they denied him,
فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ then We destroyed them. إِنَّ Indeed, فِى in ذَٰلِكَ that لَءَايَةً surely, is a sign, وَمَا but not كَانَ are أَكْثَرُهُم most of them مُّؤْمِنِينَ believers.
وَإِنَّ And indeed, رَبَّكَ your Lord لَهُوَ surely, He ٱلْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty, ٱلرَّحِيمُ the Most Merciful. كَذَّبَتْ Denied ثَمُودُ Thamud, ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ the Messengers إِذْ When,
قَالَ said لَهُمْ to them أَخُوهُمْ their brother صَٰلِحٌ Salih, أَلَا "Will not تَتَّقُونَ you fear (Allah)? إِنِّى Indeed, I am لَكُمْ to you رَسُولٌ a Messenger أَمِينٌ trustworthy.
فَٱتَّقُوا۟ So fear ٱللَّهَ Allah وَأَطِيعُونِ and obey me. وَمَآ And not أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ I ask you عَلَيْهِ for it مِنْ any أَجْرٍ payment. إِنْ Not أَجْرِىَ (is) my payment
إِلَّا except عَلَىٰ from رَبِّ (the) Lord ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ (of) the worlds. أَتُتْرَكُونَ Will you be left فِى in مَا what هَٰهُنَآ (is) here ءَامِنِينَ secure,
فِى In جَنَّٰتٍ gardens وَعُيُونٍ and springs, وَزُرُوعٍ And cornfields وَنَخْلٍ and date-palms طَلْعُهَا its spadix هَضِيمٌ soft?
وَتَنْحِتُونَ And you carve مِنَ of ٱلْجِبَالِ the mountains, بُيُوتًا houses فَٰرِهِينَ skillfully. فَٱتَّقُوا۟ So fear ٱللَّهَ Allah وَأَطِيعُونِ and obey me.
وَلَا And (do) not تُطِيعُوٓا۟ obey أَمْرَ (the) command ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ (of) the transgressors, ٱلَّذِينَ Those who يُفْسِدُونَ spread corruption فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth
وَلَا and (do) not يُصْلِحُونَ reform." قَالُوٓا۟ They said, إِنَّمَآ "Only أَنتَ you مِنَ (are) of ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ those bewitched. مَآ Not أَنتَ you
إِلَّا (are) except بَشَرٌ a man مِّثْلُنَا like us, فَأْتِ so bring بِـَٔايَةٍ a sign, إِن if كُنتَ you مِنَ (are) of ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ the truthful." قَالَ He said,
هَٰذِهِۦ "This نَاقَةٌ (is) a she-camel. لَّهَا For her شِرْبٌ (is a share of) drink, وَلَكُمْ and for you شِرْبُ (is a share of) drink يَوْمٍ (on) a day مَّعْلُومٍ known. وَلَا And (do) not تَمَسُّوهَا touch her
بِسُوٓءٍ with harm, فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ lest seize you عَذَابُ (the) punishment يَوْمٍ (of) a Day عَظِيمٍ Great." فَعَقَرُوهَا But they hamstrung her, فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ then they became
نَٰدِمِينَ regretful. فَأَخَذَهُمُ So seized them ٱلْعَذَابُ the punishment. إِنَّ Indeed, فِى in ذَٰلِكَ that لَءَايَةً surely is a sign, وَمَا but not كَانَ are
أَكْثَرُهُم most of them مُّؤْمِنِينَ believers. وَإِنَّ And indeed, رَبَّكَ your Lord, لَهُوَ surely He ٱلْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty, ٱلرَّحِيمُ the Most Merciful.
فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ then We destroyed them. إِنَّ Indeed, فِى in ذَٰلِكَ that لَءَايَةً surely, is a sign, وَمَا but not كَانَ are أَكْثَرُهُم most of them مُّؤْمِنِينَ believers.
