وَمَا
And not
كَانَ
(it) is
لِمُؤْمِنٍ
for a believing man
وَلَا
and not
مُؤْمِنَةٍ
(for) a believing woman,
إِذَا
when
قَضَى
Allah has decided *[meaning includes next or prev. word]
ٱللَّهُ
Allah has decided *[meaning includes next or prev. word]
وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ
and His Messenger
أَمْرًا
a matter
أَن
that
يَكُونَ
(there) should be
لَهُمُ for them ٱلْخِيَرَةُ (any) choice مِنْ about أَمْرِهِمْ their affair. وَمَن And whoever يَعْصِ disobeys ٱللَّهَ Allah وَرَسُولَهُۥ and His Messenger فَقَدْ certainly, ضَلَّ he (has) strayed ضَلَٰلًا (into) error
مُّبِينًا clear. وَإِذْ And when تَقُولُ you said لِلَّذِىٓ to the one, أَنْعَمَ Allah bestowed favor *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱللَّهُ Allah bestowed favor *[meaning includes next or prev. word] عَلَيْهِ on him وَأَنْعَمْتَ and you bestowed favor عَلَيْهِ on him,
أَمْسِكْ "Keep عَلَيْكَ to yourself زَوْجَكَ your wife وَٱتَّقِ and fear ٱللَّهَ Allah." وَتُخْفِى But you concealed فِى within نَفْسِكَ yourself مَا what ٱللَّهُ Allah
مُبْدِيهِ (was to) disclose. وَتَخْشَى And you fear ٱلنَّاسَ the people, وَٱللَّهُ while Allah أَحَقُّ has more right أَن that تَخْشَىٰهُ you (should) fear Him. فَلَمَّا So when قَضَىٰ ended زَيْدٌ Zaid
مِّنْهَا from her وَطَرًا necessary (formalities), زَوَّجْنَٰكَهَا We married her to you لِكَىْ so that لَا not يَكُونَ there be عَلَى on ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ the believers حَرَجٌ any discomfort فِىٓ concerning
أَزْوَٰجِ the wives أَدْعِيَآئِهِمْ (of) their adopted sons إِذَا when قَضَوْا۟ they have ended مِنْهُنَّ from them وَطَرًا necessary (formalities). وَكَانَ And is أَمْرُ (the) Command ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah مَفْعُولًا accomplished.
مَّا Not كَانَ (there can) be عَلَى upon ٱلنَّبِىِّ the Prophet مِنْ any حَرَجٍ discomfort فِيمَا in what فَرَضَ Allah has imposed *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱللَّهُ Allah has imposed *[meaning includes next or prev. word] لَهُۥ on him. سُنَّةَ (That is the) Way ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah فِى concerning
ٱلَّذِينَ those who خَلَوْا۟ passed away مِن before. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] قَبْلُ before. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] وَكَانَ And is أَمْرُ (the) Command ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah قَدَرًا a decree مَّقْدُورًا destined. ٱلَّذِينَ Those who
يُبَلِّغُونَ convey رِسَٰلَٰتِ (the) Messages ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah وَيَخْشَوْنَهُۥ and fear Him وَلَا and (do) not يَخْشَوْنَ fear أَحَدًا anyone إِلَّا except ٱللَّهَ Allah. وَكَفَىٰ And sufficient is Allah *[meaning includes next or prev. word]
بِٱللَّهِ And sufficient is Allah *[meaning includes next or prev. word] حَسِيبًا (as) a Reckoner. مَّا Not كَانَ is مُحَمَّدٌ Muhammad أَبَآ (the) father أَحَدٍ (of) anyone مِّن of رِّجَالِكُمْ your men وَلَٰكِن but
رَّسُولَ (he is the) Messenger ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah وَخَاتَمَ and Seal ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ (of) the Prophets. وَكَانَ And Allah is *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱللَّهُ And Allah is *[meaning includes next or prev. word] بِكُلِّ of every شَىْءٍ thing عَلِيمًا All-Knower.
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا O you who believe! *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱلَّذِينَ O you who believe! *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ءَامَنُوا۟ O you who believe! *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱذْكُرُوا۟ Remember ٱللَّهَ Allah ذِكْرًا (with) remembrance كَثِيرًا much وَسَبِّحُوهُ And glorify Him
بُكْرَةً morning وَأَصِيلًا and evening. هُوَ He ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who يُصَلِّى sends His blessings عَلَيْكُمْ upon you وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتُهُۥ and His Angels
لِيُخْرِجَكُم so that He may bring you out مِّنَ from ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ the darkness[es] إِلَى to ٱلنُّورِ the light. وَكَانَ And He is بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ to the believers رَحِيمًا Merciful.
