إِنَّ
Indeed,
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
يُبَايِعُونَكَ
pledge allegiance to you
إِنَّمَا
only
يُبَايِعُونَ
they pledge allegiance
ٱللَّهَ
(to) Allah.
يَدُ
(The) Hand
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
فَوْقَ
(is) over
أَيْدِيهِمْ their hands. فَمَن Then whoever نَّكَثَ breaks (his oath) فَإِنَّمَا then only يَنكُثُ he breaks عَلَىٰ against نَفْسِهِۦ himself, وَمَنْ and whoever أَوْفَىٰ fulfils
بِمَا what عَٰهَدَ he has covenanted عَلَيْهُ (with) ٱللَّهَ Allah, فَسَيُؤْتِيهِ soon He will give him أَجْرًا a reward عَظِيمًا great. سَيَقُولُ Will say
لَكَ to you ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ those who remained behind مِنَ of ٱلْأَعْرَابِ the Bedouins, شَغَلَتْنَآ "Kept us busy أَمْوَٰلُنَا our properties وَأَهْلُونَا and our families,
فَٱسْتَغْفِرْ so ask forgiveness لَنَا for us." يَقُولُونَ They say بِأَلْسِنَتِهِم with their tongues مَّا what لَيْسَ is not فِى in قُلُوبِهِمْ their hearts. قُلْ Say,
فَمَن "Then who يَمْلِكُ has power لَكُم for you مِّنَ against ٱللَّهِ Allah شَيْـًٔا (in) anything, إِنْ if أَرَادَ He intends بِكُمْ for you ضَرًّا harm أَوْ or أَرَادَ He intends بِكُمْ for you
نَفْعًۢا a benefit? بَلْ Nay, كَانَ is ٱللَّهُ Allah بِمَا of what تَعْمَلُونَ you do خَبِيرًۢا All-Aware. بَلْ Nay, ظَنَنتُمْ you thought أَن that لَّن (would) never
يَنقَلِبَ return ٱلرَّسُولُ the Messenger وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ and the believers إِلَىٰٓ to أَهْلِيهِمْ their families أَبَدًا ever, وَزُيِّنَ that was made fair-seeming *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ذَٰلِكَ that was made fair-seeming *[meaning includes next or prev. word] فِى in
قُلُوبِكُمْ your hearts. وَظَنَنتُمْ And you assumed ظَنَّ an assumption ٱلسَّوْءِ evil, وَكُنتُمْ and you became قَوْمًۢا a people بُورًا ruined." وَمَن And whoever لَّمْ (has) not believed *[meaning includes next or prev. word] يُؤْمِنۢ (has) not believed *[meaning includes next or prev. word]
بِٱللَّهِ in Allah وَرَسُولِهِۦ and His Messenger فَإِنَّآ then indeed, We أَعْتَدْنَا [We] have prepared لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ for the disbelievers سَعِيرًا a Blazing Fire. وَلِلَّهِ And for Allah مُلْكُ (is the) kingdom
ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth. يَغْفِرُ He forgives لِمَن whom يَشَآءُ He wills وَيُعَذِّبُ and punishes مَن whom يَشَآءُ He wills.
وَكَانَ And is ٱللَّهُ Allah غَفُورًا Oft-Forgiving, رَّحِيمًا Most Merciful. سَيَقُولُ Will say ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ those who remained behind إِذَا when
ٱنطَلَقْتُمْ you set forth إِلَىٰ towards مَغَانِمَ (the) spoils of war لِتَأْخُذُوهَا to take it, ذَرُونَا "Allow us نَتَّبِعْكُمْ (to) follow you." يُرِيدُونَ They wish
أَن to يُبَدِّلُوا۟ change كَلَٰمَ (the) Words ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah. قُل Say, لَّن "Never تَتَّبِعُونَا will you follow us. كَذَٰلِكُمْ Thus قَالَ Allah said *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱللَّهُ Allah said *[meaning includes next or prev. word] مِن before." *[meaning includes next or prev. word] قَبْلُ before." *[meaning includes next or prev. word]
فَسَيَقُولُونَ Then they will say, بَلْ "Nay, تَحْسُدُونَنَا you envy us." بَلْ Nay, كَانُوا۟ they were لَا not يَفْقَهُونَ understanding إِلَّا except قَلِيلًا a little.
أَيْدِيهِمْ their hands. فَمَن Then whoever نَّكَثَ breaks (his oath) فَإِنَّمَا then only يَنكُثُ he breaks عَلَىٰ against نَفْسِهِۦ himself, وَمَنْ and whoever أَوْفَىٰ fulfils
بِمَا what عَٰهَدَ he has covenanted عَلَيْهُ (with) ٱللَّهَ Allah, فَسَيُؤْتِيهِ soon He will give him أَجْرًا a reward عَظِيمًا great. سَيَقُولُ Will say

فَمَن "Then who يَمْلِكُ has power لَكُم for you مِّنَ against ٱللَّهِ Allah شَيْـًٔا (in) anything, إِنْ if أَرَادَ He intends بِكُمْ for you ضَرًّا harm أَوْ or أَرَادَ He intends بِكُمْ for you
نَفْعًۢا a benefit? بَلْ Nay, كَانَ is ٱللَّهُ Allah بِمَا of what تَعْمَلُونَ you do خَبِيرًۢا All-Aware. بَلْ Nay, ظَنَنتُمْ you thought أَن that لَّن (would) never

فَسَيَقُولُونَ Then they will say, بَلْ "Nay, تَحْسُدُونَنَا you envy us." بَلْ Nay, كَانُوا۟ they were لَا not يَفْقَهُونَ understanding إِلَّا except قَلِيلًا a little.
