سورة At-Tawba
بَرَآءَةٌ
Freedom from obligations
مِّنَ
from
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ
and His Messenger
إِلَى
to
ٱلَّذِينَ
those (with) whom
عَٰهَدتُّم
you made a covenant
مِّنَ
from
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ
the polytheists.
فَسِيحُوا۟ So move about فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the land أَرْبَعَةَ (during) four أَشْهُرٍ months وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ but know أَنَّكُمْ that you غَيْرُ (can) not مُعْجِزِى escape
ٱللَّهِ Allah وَأَنَّ and that ٱللَّهَ Allah مُخْزِى (is) the One Who (will) disgrace ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers. وَأَذَٰنٌ And an announcement مِّنَ from ٱللَّهِ Allah وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ and His Messenger
إِلَى to ٱلنَّاسِ the people يَوْمَ (on the) day ٱلْحَجِّ (of) the Pilgrimage ٱلْأَكْبَرِ the greater أَنَّ that ٱللَّهَ Allah بَرِىٓءٌ (is) free from obligations مِّنَ [of] ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ (to) the polytheists,
وَرَسُولُهُۥ and (so is) His Messenger. فَإِن So if تُبْتُمْ you repent, فَهُوَ then, it is خَيْرٌ best لَّكُمْ for you. وَإِن But if تَوَلَّيْتُمْ you turn away فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ then know
أَنَّكُمْ that you غَيْرُ (can) not مُعْجِزِى escape ٱللَّهِ Allah. وَبَشِّرِ And give glad tidings ٱلَّذِينَ (to) those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve بِعَذَابٍ of a punishment أَلِيمٍ painful.
إِلَّا Except ٱلَّذِينَ those (with) whom عَٰهَدتُّم you have a covenant مِّنَ among ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ the polytheists, ثُمَّ then لَمْ not يَنقُصُوكُمْ they have failed you شَيْـًٔا (in any) thing
وَلَمْ and not يُظَٰهِرُوا۟ they have supported عَلَيْكُمْ against you أَحَدًا anyone, فَأَتِمُّوٓا۟ so fulfil إِلَيْهِمْ to them عَهْدَهُمْ their treaty إِلَىٰ till مُدَّتِهِمْ their term.
إِنَّ Indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah يُحِبُّ loves ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ the righteous. فَإِذَا Then when ٱنسَلَخَ have passed ٱلْأَشْهُرُ the months ٱلْحُرُمُ sacred,
فَٱقْتُلُوا۟ then kill ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ the polytheists حَيْثُ wherever وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ you find them وَخُذُوهُمْ and seize them وَٱحْصُرُوهُمْ and besiege them
وَٱقْعُدُوا۟ and sit (in wait) لَهُمْ for them كُلَّ (at) every مَرْصَدٍ place of ambush. فَإِن But if تَابُوا۟ they repent وَأَقَامُوا۟ and establish ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ the prayer وَءَاتَوُا۟ and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ the zakah فَخَلُّوا۟ then leave سَبِيلَهُمْ their way. إِنَّ Indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah غَفُورٌ (is) Oft-Forgiving, رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful. وَإِنْ And if أَحَدٌ anyone
مِّنَ of ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ the polytheists ٱسْتَجَارَكَ seek your protection فَأَجِرْهُ then grant him protection حَتَّىٰ until يَسْمَعَ he hears كَلَٰمَ (the) Words
ٱللَّهِ of Allah. ثُمَّ Then أَبْلِغْهُ escort him مَأْمَنَهُۥ (to) his place of safety. ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they قَوْمٌ (are) a people لَّا (who) do not يَعْلَمُونَ know
