وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
جَآءُو
came
مِنۢ
from
بَعْدِهِمْ
after them
يَقُولُونَ
they say,
رَبَّنَا
"Our Lord,
ٱغْفِرْ
forgive
لَنَا
us
وَلِإِخْوَٰنِنَا
and our brothers
ٱلَّذِينَ who سَبَقُونَا preceded us بِٱلْإِيمَٰنِ in faith, وَلَا and (do) not تَجْعَلْ put فِى in قُلُوبِنَا our hearts غِلًّا any rancor لِّلَّذِينَ towards those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ believed. رَبَّنَآ Our Lord, إِنَّكَ indeed You رَءُوفٌ (are) Full of Kindness, رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful." أَلَمْ Do not تَرَ you see إِلَى [to] ٱلَّذِينَ those who
نَافَقُوا۟ (were) hypocrites, يَقُولُونَ saying لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُ to their brothers, ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieved, مِنْ among أَهْلِ the People ٱلْكِتَٰبِ (of) the Scripture,
لَئِنْ "If أُخْرِجْتُمْ you are expelled, لَنَخْرُجَنَّ surely we will leave مَعَكُمْ with you, وَلَا and not نُطِيعُ we will obey فِيكُمْ concerning you أَحَدًا anyone, أَبَدًا ever;
وَإِن and if قُوتِلْتُمْ you are fought, لَنَنصُرَنَّكُمْ certainly we will help you." وَٱللَّهُ And Allah يَشْهَدُ bears witness إِنَّهُمْ that they لَكَٰذِبُونَ (are) surely liars.
لَئِنْ If أُخْرِجُوا۟ they are expelled, لَا not يَخْرُجُونَ they will leave مَعَهُمْ with them, وَلَئِن and if قُوتِلُوا۟ they are fought لَا not يَنصُرُونَهُمْ they will help them.
وَلَئِن And if نَّصَرُوهُمْ they help them, لَيُوَلُّنَّ certainly they will turn ٱلْأَدْبَٰرَ (their) backs; ثُمَّ then لَا not يُنصَرُونَ they will be helped. لَأَنتُمْ Certainly you
أَشَدُّ (are) more intense رَهْبَةً (in) fear فِى in صُدُورِهِم their breasts مِّنَ than ٱللَّهِ Allah. ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they قَوْمٌ (are) a people
لَّا (who do) not يَفْقَهُونَ understand. لَا Not يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْ will they fight you جَمِيعًا all إِلَّا except فِى in قُرًى towns مُّحَصَّنَةٍ fortified
أَوْ or مِن from وَرَآءِ behind جُدُرٍۭ walls. بَأْسُهُم Their violence بَيْنَهُمْ among themselves شَدِيدٌ (is) severe. تَحْسَبُهُمْ You think they جَمِيعًا (are) united,
وَقُلُوبُهُمْ but their hearts شَتَّىٰ (are) divided. ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they قَوْمٌ (are) a people, لَّا not يَعْقِلُونَ they reason. كَمَثَلِ Like (the) example
ٱلَّذِينَ (of) those مِن from قَبْلِهِمْ before them قَرِيبًا shortly, ذَاقُوا۟ they tasted وَبَالَ (the) evil result أَمْرِهِمْ (of) their affair, وَلَهُمْ and for them عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ painful. كَمَثَلِ Like (the) example ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ (of) the Shaitaan, إِذْ when قَالَ he says لِلْإِنسَٰنِ to man, ٱكْفُرْ "Disbelieve." فَلَمَّا But when
كَفَرَ he disbelieves, قَالَ he says, إِنِّى "Indeed, I am بَرِىٓءٌ disassociated مِّنكَ from you. إِنِّىٓ Indeed, [I] أَخَافُ I fear ٱللَّهَ Allah, رَبَّ (the) Lord ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ (of) the worlds."
ٱلَّذِينَ who سَبَقُونَا preceded us بِٱلْإِيمَٰنِ in faith, وَلَا and (do) not تَجْعَلْ put فِى in قُلُوبِنَا our hearts غِلًّا any rancor لِّلَّذِينَ towards those who

كَفَرَ he disbelieves, قَالَ he says, إِنِّى "Indeed, I am بَرِىٓءٌ disassociated مِّنكَ from you. إِنِّىٓ Indeed, [I] أَخَافُ I fear ٱللَّهَ Allah, رَبَّ (the) Lord ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ (of) the worlds."
