يَوْمَ
(On) the Day
تَأْتِى
(when) will come
كُلُّ
every
نَفْسٍ
soul
تُجَٰدِلُ
pleading
عَن
for
نَّفْسِهَا
itself,
وَتُوَفَّىٰ
and will be paid in full
كُلُّ
every
نَفْسٍ soul مَّا what عَمِلَتْ it did وَهُمْ and they لَا (will) not يُظْلَمُونَ be wronged. وَضَرَبَ And Allah sets forth *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱللَّهُ And Allah sets forth *[meaning includes next or prev. word] مَثَلًا a similitude
قَرْيَةً (of) a town كَانَتْ (that) was ءَامِنَةً secure مُّطْمَئِنَّةً and content, يَأْتِيهَا coming to it رِزْقُهَا its provision رَغَدًا (in) abundance مِّن from
كُلِّ every مَكَانٍ place, فَكَفَرَتْ but it denied بِأَنْعُمِ (the) Favors of Allah, *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱللَّهِ (the) Favors of Allah, *[meaning includes next or prev. word] فَأَذَٰقَهَا so Allah made it taste *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱللَّهُ so Allah made it taste *[meaning includes next or prev. word] لِبَاسَ (the) garb
ٱلْجُوعِ (of) the hunger وَٱلْخَوْفِ and the fear بِمَا for what كَانُوا۟ they used (to) يَصْنَعُونَ do. وَلَقَدْ And certainly جَآءَهُمْ came to them
رَسُولٌ a Messenger مِّنْهُمْ from among them فَكَذَّبُوهُ but they denied him; فَأَخَذَهُمُ so seized them ٱلْعَذَابُ the punishment وَهُمْ while they ظَٰلِمُونَ (were) wrongdoers.
فَكُلُوا۟ So eat مِمَّا of what رَزَقَكُمُ Allah has provided you - *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱللَّهُ Allah has provided you - *[meaning includes next or prev. word] حَلَٰلًا lawful طَيِّبًا and good. وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ And be grateful
نِعْمَتَ (for the) Favor ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah, إِن if كُنتُمْ [you] إِيَّاهُ Him Alone تَعْبُدُونَ you worship. إِنَّمَا Only حَرَّمَ He has forbidden
عَلَيْكُمُ to you ٱلْمَيْتَةَ the dead animal وَٱلدَّمَ and the blood وَلَحْمَ and the flesh ٱلْخِنزِيرِ (of) the swine, وَمَآ and what أُهِلَّ has been dedicated لِغَيْرِ to other (than)
ٱللَّهِ Allah بِهِۦ [with it]. فَمَنِ But (if) one ٱضْطُرَّ (is) forced - غَيْرَ without (being) بَاغٍ disobedient, وَلَا and not عَادٍ a transgressor - فَإِنَّ then indeed, ٱللَّهَ Allah غَفُورٌ (is) Oft-Forgiving,
رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful. وَلَا And (do) not تَقُولُوا۟ say لِمَا for that which تَصِفُ assert أَلْسِنَتُكُمُ your tongues, ٱلْكَذِبَ the lie,
هَٰذَا "This حَلَٰلٌ (is) lawful وَهَٰذَا and this حَرَامٌ (is) forbidden," لِّتَفْتَرُوا۟ so that you invent عَلَى about ٱللَّهِ Allah ٱلْكَذِبَ the lie. إِنَّ Indeed,
ٱلَّذِينَ those who يَفْتَرُونَ invent عَلَى about ٱللَّهِ Allah ٱلْكَذِبَ the lie, لَا they will not succeed. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] يُفْلِحُونَ they will not succeed. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] مَتَٰعٌ An enjoyment قَلِيلٌ little
وَلَهُمْ and for them عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment أَلِيمٌ painful. وَعَلَى And to ٱلَّذِينَ those who هَادُوا۟ are Jews حَرَّمْنَا We have forbidden مَا what قَصَصْنَا We related عَلَيْكَ to you
مِن before. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] قَبْلُ before. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] وَمَا And not ظَلَمْنَٰهُمْ We wronged them وَلَٰكِن but كَانُوٓا۟ they used (to) أَنفُسَهُمْ themselves يَظْلِمُونَ wrong.
