وَجَحَدُوا۟
And they rejected
بِهَا
them,
وَٱسْتَيْقَنَتْهَآ
though were convinced with them (signs)
أَنفُسُهُمْ
themselves,
ظُلْمًا
(out of) injustice
وَعُلُوًّا
and haughtiness.
فَٱنظُرْ
So see
كَيْفَ
how
كَانَ was عَٰقِبَةُ (the) end ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ (of) the corrupters. وَلَقَدْ And verily, ءَاتَيْنَا We gave دَاوُۥدَ Dawood وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ and Sulaiman عِلْمًا knowledge,
وَقَالَا and they said, ٱلْحَمْدُ "Praise be لِلَّهِ to Allah ٱلَّذِى the One Who فَضَّلَنَا has favored us عَلَىٰ over كَثِيرٍ many مِّنْ of عِبَادِهِ His servants ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ the believers."
وَوَرِثَ And inherited سُلَيْمَٰنُ Sulaiman دَاوُۥدَ Dawood. وَقَالَ And he said, يَٰٓأَيُّهَا "O ٱلنَّاسُ people! عُلِّمْنَا We have been taught مَنطِقَ (the) language
ٱلطَّيْرِ (of) the birds, وَأُوتِينَا and we have been given مِن from كُلِّ every شَىْءٍ thing. إِنَّ Indeed, هَٰذَا this لَهُوَ surely, it ٱلْفَضْلُ (is) the favor ٱلْمُبِينُ evident."
وَحُشِرَ And were gathered لِسُلَيْمَٰنَ for Sulaiman جُنُودُهُۥ his hosts مِنَ of ٱلْجِنِّ jinn وَٱلْإِنسِ and the men وَٱلطَّيْرِ and the birds, فَهُمْ and they
يُوزَعُونَ (were) set in rows. حَتَّىٰٓ Until, إِذَآ when أَتَوْا۟ they came عَلَىٰ to وَادِ (the) valley ٱلنَّمْلِ (of) the ants, قَالَتْ said نَمْلَةٌ an ant, يَٰٓأَيُّهَا "O
ٱلنَّمْلُ ants! ٱدْخُلُوا۟ Enter مَسَٰكِنَكُمْ your dwellings لَا lest not crush you *[meaning includes next or prev. word] يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ lest not crush you *[meaning includes next or prev. word] سُلَيْمَٰنُ Sulaiman وَجُنُودُهُۥ and his hosts وَهُمْ while they
لَا (do) not perceive." *[meaning includes next or prev. word] يَشْعُرُونَ (do) not perceive." *[meaning includes next or prev. word] فَتَبَسَّمَ So he smiled - ضَاحِكًا laughing مِّن at قَوْلِهَا her speech وَقَالَ and said, رَبِّ "My Lord! أَوْزِعْنِىٓ Grant me (the) power
أَنْ that أَشْكُرَ I may thank You نِعْمَتَكَ (for) Your Favor ٱلَّتِىٓ which أَنْعَمْتَ You have bestowed عَلَىَّ on me وَعَلَىٰ and on وَٰلِدَىَّ my parents وَأَنْ and that أَعْمَلَ I may do
صَٰلِحًا righteous (deeds), تَرْضَىٰهُ that will please You. وَأَدْخِلْنِى And admit me بِرَحْمَتِكَ by Your Mercy فِى among عِبَادِكَ Your slaves ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ righteous."
وَتَفَقَّدَ And he inspected ٱلطَّيْرَ the birds فَقَالَ and said, مَا "Why *[meaning includes next or prev. word] لِىَ "Why *[meaning includes next or prev. word] لَآ not أَرَى I see ٱلْهُدْهُدَ the hoopoe أَمْ or كَانَ is he
مِنَ from ٱلْغَآئِبِينَ the absent? لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُۥ I will surely punish him عَذَابًا (with) a punishment شَدِيدًا severe أَوْ or لَأَا۟ذْبَحَنَّهُۥٓ I will surely slaughter him
أَوْ unless لَيَأْتِيَنِّى he brings me بِسُلْطَٰنٍ a reason مُّبِينٍ clear." فَمَكَثَ So he stayed غَيْرَ not بَعِيدٍ long, فَقَالَ and he said,
أَحَطتُ "I have encompassed بِمَا that which لَمْ not تُحِطْ you have encompassed بِهِۦ it, وَجِئْتُكَ and I have come to you مِن from سَبَإٍۭ Saba بِنَبَإٍ with news يَقِينٍ certain.
