وَمَا
And not
خَلَقْنَا
We created
ٱلسَّمَآءَ
the heaven
وَٱلْأَرْضَ
and the earth
وَمَا
and whatever
بَيْنَهُمَا
(is) between them
بَٰطِلًا
without purpose.
ذَٰلِكَ
That
ظَنُّ
(is the) assumption
ٱلَّذِينَ
(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve. فَوَيْلٌ So woe لِّلَّذِينَ to those كَفَرُوا۟ who disbelieve, مِنَ from ٱلنَّارِ the Fire. أَمْ Or نَجْعَلُ should We treat ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe وَعَمِلُوا۟ and do
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ righteous deeds كَٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ like those who spread corruption فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth? أَمْ Or نَجْعَلُ should We treat ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ the pious كَٱلْفُجَّارِ like the wicked?
كِتَٰبٌ (This is) a Book أَنزَلْنَٰهُ We have revealed it إِلَيْكَ to you, مُبَٰرَكٌ blessed, لِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟ that they may ponder ءَايَٰتِهِۦ (over) its Verses وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ and may be reminded أُو۟لُوا۟ those of understanding. *[meaning includes next or prev. word]
ٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ those of understanding. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] وَوَهَبْنَا And We gave لِدَاوُۥدَ to Dawood سُلَيْمَٰنَ Sulaiman, نِعْمَ an excellent ٱلْعَبْدُ slave. إِنَّهُۥٓ Indeed, he أَوَّابٌ (was) one who repeatedly turned.
إِذْ When عُرِضَ were displayed عَلَيْهِ to him بِٱلْعَشِىِّ in the afternoon ٱلصَّٰفِنَٰتُ excellent bred steeds. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱلْجِيَادُ excellent bred steeds. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] فَقَالَ And he said, إِنِّىٓ "Indeed, I أَحْبَبْتُ [I] preferred
حُبَّ (the) love ٱلْخَيْرِ (of) the good عَن over ذِكْرِ (the) remembrance رَبِّى (of) my Lord." حَتَّىٰ Until تَوَارَتْ they were hidden بِٱلْحِجَابِ in the veil; رُدُّوهَا "Return them عَلَىَّ to me."
فَطَفِقَ Then he began مَسْحًۢا (to) pass (his hand) بِٱلسُّوقِ over the legs وَٱلْأَعْنَاقِ and the necks. وَلَقَدْ And certainly فَتَنَّا We tried سُلَيْمَٰنَ Sulaiman,
وَأَلْقَيْنَا and We placed عَلَىٰ on كُرْسِيِّهِۦ his throne جَسَدًا a body; ثُمَّ then أَنَابَ he turned. قَالَ He said, رَبِّ "O my Lord! ٱغْفِرْ Forgive لِى me وَهَبْ and grant
لِى me مُلْكًا a kingdom, لَّا not يَنۢبَغِى (will) belong لِأَحَدٍ to anyone مِّنۢ after me. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] بَعْدِىٓ after me. *[meaning includes next or prev. word] إِنَّكَ Indeed, You أَنتَ [You] ٱلْوَهَّابُ (are) the Bestower."
فَسَخَّرْنَا Then We subjected لَهُ to him ٱلرِّيحَ the wind تَجْرِى to flow بِأَمْرِهِۦ by his command, رُخَآءً gently, حَيْثُ wherever أَصَابَ he directed, وَٱلشَّيَٰطِينَ And the devils,
كُلَّ every بَنَّآءٍ builder وَغَوَّاصٍ and diver, وَءَاخَرِينَ And others مُقَرَّنِينَ bound فِى in ٱلْأَصْفَادِ chains. هَٰذَا "This
عَطَآؤُنَا (is) Our gift, فَٱمْنُنْ so grant أَوْ or أَمْسِكْ withhold بِغَيْرِ without حِسَابٍ account." وَإِنَّ And indeed, لَهُۥ for him عِندَنَا with Us لَزُلْفَىٰ surely is a near access وَحُسْنَ and a good
مَـَٔابٍ place of return. وَٱذْكُرْ And remember عَبْدَنَآ Our slave أَيُّوبَ Ayyub, إِذْ when نَادَىٰ he called رَبَّهُۥٓ his Lord, أَنِّى "That [I], مَسَّنِىَ (has) touched me ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ Shaitaan
بِنُصْبٍ with distress وَعَذَابٍ and suffering." ٱرْكُضْ "Strike بِرِجْلِكَ with your foot. هَٰذَا This مُغْتَسَلٌۢ (is a spring of) water to bathe, بَارِدٌ cool وَشَرَابٌ and a drink."
