إِذْ
When
دَخَلُوا۟
they entered
عَلَيْهِ
upon him
فَقَالُوا۟
and said,
سَلَٰمًا
"Peace."
قَالَ
He said,
إِنَّا
"Indeed, we
مِنكُمْ
(are) of you
وَجِلُونَ
afraid."
قَالُوا۟
They said,
لَا "(Do) not تَوْجَلْ be afraid, إِنَّا indeed, we نُبَشِّرُكَ [we] bring glad tidings to you بِغُلَٰمٍ of a boy عَلِيمٍ learned." قَالَ He said, أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِى "Do you give me glad tidings *[meaning includes next or prev. word] عَلَىٰٓ "Do you give me glad tidings *[meaning includes next or prev. word] أَن although
مَّسَّنِىَ has overtaken me ٱلْكِبَرُ old age? فَبِمَ Then about what تُبَشِّرُونَ you give glad tidings?" قَالُوا۟ They said, بَشَّرْنَٰكَ "We give you glad tidings بِٱلْحَقِّ in truth,
فَلَا so (do) not تَكُن be مِّنَ of ٱلْقَٰنِطِينَ the despairing." قَالَ He said, وَمَن "And who يَقْنَطُ despairs مِن of رَّحْمَةِ (the) Mercy
رَبِّهِۦٓ (of) his Lord إِلَّا except ٱلضَّآلُّونَ those who are astray." قَالَ He said, فَمَا "Then what خَطْبُكُمْ (is) your business, أَيُّهَا O messengers?" *[meaning includes next or prev. word] ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ O messengers?" *[meaning includes next or prev. word]
قَالُوٓا۟ They said, إِنَّآ "Indeed, we أُرْسِلْنَآ [we] have been sent إِلَىٰ to قَوْمٍ a people - مُّجْرِمِينَ criminals, إِلَّآ Except ءَالَ the family لُوطٍ of Lut;
إِنَّا indeed, we لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ surely will save them أَجْمَعِينَ all إِلَّا Except ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ his wife." قَدَّرْنَآ We have decreed إِنَّهَا that she لَمِنَ (is) surely of
ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ those who remain behind. فَلَمَّا And when جَآءَ came ءَالَ (to the) family لُوطٍ (of) Lut ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ the messengers, قَالَ He said,
إِنَّكُمْ "Indeed, you قَوْمٌ (are) a people مُّنكَرُونَ unknown." قَالُوا۟ They said, بَلْ "Nay, جِئْنَٰكَ we have come to you بِمَا with what كَانُوا۟ they were فِيهِ in it
يَمْتَرُونَ disputing, وَأَتَيْنَٰكَ And we have come to you بِٱلْحَقِّ with the truth, وَإِنَّا and indeed, we لَصَٰدِقُونَ surely (are) truthful. فَأَسْرِ So travel
بِأَهْلِكَ with your family بِقِطْعٍ in a portion مِّنَ of ٱلَّيْلِ the night وَٱتَّبِعْ and follow أَدْبَٰرَهُمْ their backs, وَلَا and not يَلْتَفِتْ let look back مِنكُمْ among you أَحَدٌ anyone,
وَٱمْضُوا۟ and go on حَيْثُ where تُؤْمَرُونَ you are ordered." وَقَضَيْنَآ And We conveyed إِلَيْهِ to him ذَٰلِكَ [that] ٱلْأَمْرَ the matter أَنَّ that
دَابِرَ (the) root هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ (of) these مَقْطُوعٌ would be cut off مُّصْبِحِينَ (by) early morning. وَجَآءَ And came أَهْلُ (the) people ٱلْمَدِينَةِ (of) the city,
يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ rejoicing. قَالَ He said, إِنَّ "Indeed, هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ these ضَيْفِى (are) my guests, فَلَا so (do) not تَفْضَحُونِ shame me.
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ And fear ٱللَّهَ Allah, وَلَا and (do) not تُخْزُونِ disgrace me." قَالُوٓا۟ They said, أَوَلَمْ "Did not نَنْهَكَ we forbid you عَنِ from ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ the world?"
لَا "(Do) not تَوْجَلْ be afraid, إِنَّا indeed, we نُبَشِّرُكَ [we] bring glad tidings to you بِغُلَٰمٍ of a boy عَلِيمٍ learned." قَالَ He said, أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِى "Do you give me glad tidings *[meaning includes next or prev. word] عَلَىٰٓ "Do you give me glad tidings *[meaning includes next or prev. word] أَن although

يَمْتَرُونَ disputing, وَأَتَيْنَٰكَ And we have come to you بِٱلْحَقِّ with the truth, وَإِنَّا and indeed, we لَصَٰدِقُونَ surely (are) truthful. فَأَسْرِ So travel
بِأَهْلِكَ with your family بِقِطْعٍ in a portion مِّنَ of ٱلَّيْلِ the night وَٱتَّبِعْ and follow أَدْبَٰرَهُمْ their backs, وَلَا and not يَلْتَفِتْ let look back مِنكُمْ among you أَحَدٌ anyone,

وَٱتَّقُوا۟ And fear ٱللَّهَ Allah, وَلَا and (do) not تُخْزُونِ disgrace me." قَالُوٓا۟ They said, أَوَلَمْ "Did not نَنْهَكَ we forbid you عَنِ from ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ the world?"
