سورة Al-Hijr
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
الٓر
Alif Laam Ra.
تِلْكَ
These
ءَايَٰتُ
(are) the Verses
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
(of) the Book
وَقُرْءَانٍ
and Quran
مُّبِينٍ
clear.
رُّبَمَا
Perhaps
يَوَدُّ
will wish
ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieved, لَوْ if كَانُوا۟ they had been مُسْلِمِينَ Muslims. ذَرْهُمْ Leave them يَأْكُلُوا۟ (to) eat
وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ and enjoy وَيُلْهِهِمُ and diverted them ٱلْأَمَلُ the hope, فَسَوْفَ then soon يَعْلَمُونَ they will come to know. وَمَآ And not أَهْلَكْنَا We destroyed
مِن any قَرْيَةٍ town إِلَّا but وَلَهَا (there was) for it كِتَابٌ a decree مَّعْلُومٌ known. مَّا Not تَسْبِقُ (can) advance مِنْ any أُمَّةٍ nation
أَجَلَهَا its term وَمَا and not يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ (can) delay it. وَقَالُوا۟ And they say, يَٰٓأَيُّهَا "O you ٱلَّذِى (to) whom نُزِّلَ has been sent down عَلَيْهِ [on him]
ٱلذِّكْرُ the Reminder, إِنَّكَ indeed, you لَمَجْنُونٌ (are) surely mad. لَّوْ Why مَا not تَأْتِينَا you bring to us بِٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ the Angels, إِن if كُنتَ you are
مِنَ of ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ the truthful?" مَا Not نُنَزِّلُ We send down ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ the Angels إِلَّا except بِٱلْحَقِّ with the truth; وَمَا and not كَانُوٓا۟ they would be
إِذًا then مُّنظَرِينَ given respite. إِنَّا Indeed, We نَحْنُ We نَزَّلْنَا have sent down ٱلذِّكْرَ the Reminder, وَإِنَّا and indeed, We لَهُۥ of it لَحَٰفِظُونَ (are) surely Guardians.
وَلَقَدْ And certainly أَرْسَلْنَا We (had) sent مِن before you *[meaning includes next or prev. word] قَبْلِكَ before you *[meaning includes next or prev. word] فِى in شِيَعِ the sects ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ (of) the former (people). وَمَا And not يَأْتِيهِم came to them
مِّن any رَّسُولٍ Messenger إِلَّا but كَانُوا۟ they did بِهِۦ at him يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ mock. كَذَٰلِكَ Thus نَسْلُكُهُۥ We let it enter
فِى in قُلُوبِ (the) hearts ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ (of) the criminals. لَا Not يُؤْمِنُونَ they believe بِهِۦ in it, وَقَدْ and verily خَلَتْ have passed سُنَّةُ the way(s) ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ (of) the former (people).
وَلَوْ And (even) if فَتَحْنَا We opened عَلَيْهِم to them بَابًا a gate مِّنَ from ٱلسَّمَآءِ the heaven, فَظَلُّوا۟ and they were to continue فِيهِ therein يَعْرُجُونَ (to) ascend,
لَقَالُوٓا۟ They would surely say إِنَّمَا "Only سُكِّرَتْ have been dazzled أَبْصَٰرُنَا our eyes. بَلْ Nay, نَحْنُ we قَوْمٌ (are) a people مَّسْحُورُونَ bewitched."
