وَكَذَٰلِكَ
And thus
مَآ
not
أَرْسَلْنَا
We sent
مِن
before you *[meaning includes next or prev. word]
قَبْلِكَ
before you *[meaning includes next or prev. word]
فِى
in
قَرْيَةٍ
a town
مِّن
any
نَّذِيرٍ
warner
إِلَّا
except
قَالَ
said
مُتْرَفُوهَآ
(the) wealthy ones of it,
إِنَّا "Indeed, we وَجَدْنَآ [we] found ءَابَآءَنَا our forefathers عَلَىٰٓ on أُمَّةٍ a religion, وَإِنَّا and indeed, we عَلَىٰٓ [on] ءَاثَٰرِهِم their footsteps مُّقْتَدُونَ (are) following."
قَٰلَ He said, أَوَلَوْ "Even if جِئْتُكُم I brought you بِأَهْدَىٰ better guidance مِمَّا than what وَجَدتُّمْ you found عَلَيْهِ on it ءَابَآءَكُمْ your forefathers?"
قَالُوٓا۟ They said, إِنَّا "Indeed, we بِمَآ with what أُرْسِلْتُم you are sent بِهِۦ with [it] كَٰفِرُونَ (are) disbelievers." فَٱنتَقَمْنَا So We took retribution مِنْهُمْ from them. فَٱنظُرْ Then see
كَيْفَ how كَانَ was عَٰقِبَةُ (the) end ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (of) the deniers. وَإِذْ And when قَالَ Ibrahim Said *[meaning includes next or prev. word] إِبْرَٰهِيمُ Ibrahim Said *[meaning includes next or prev. word] لِأَبِيهِ to his father وَقَوْمِهِۦٓ and his people,
إِنَّنِى "Indeed, I (am) بَرَآءٌ disassociated مِّمَّا from what تَعْبُدُونَ you worship إِلَّا Except ٱلَّذِى the One Who فَطَرَنِى created me; فَإِنَّهُۥ and indeed, He سَيَهْدِينِ will guide me."
وَجَعَلَهَا And he made it كَلِمَةًۢ a word بَاقِيَةً lasting فِى among عَقِبِهِۦ his descendents, لَعَلَّهُمْ so that they may يَرْجِعُونَ return. بَلْ Nay,
مَتَّعْتُ I gave enjoyment هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ (to) these وَءَابَآءَهُمْ and their forefathers حَتَّىٰ until جَآءَهُمُ came to them ٱلْحَقُّ the truth وَرَسُولٌ and a Messenger مُّبِينٌ clear.
وَلَمَّا And when جَآءَهُمُ came to them ٱلْحَقُّ the truth, قَالُوا۟ they said, هَٰذَا "This سِحْرٌ (is) magic, وَإِنَّا and indeed, we بِهِۦ of it كَٰفِرُونَ (are) disbelievers." وَقَالُوا۟ And they say,
لَوْلَا "Why not نُزِّلَ was sent down هَٰذَا this ٱلْقُرْءَانُ the Quran عَلَىٰ to رَجُلٍ a man, مِّنَ from ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِ the two towns, عَظِيمٍ great?" أَهُمْ Do they
يَقْسِمُونَ distribute رَحْمَتَ (the) Mercy رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord? نَحْنُ We قَسَمْنَا [We] distribute بَيْنَهُم among them مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ their livelihood فِى in ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world, وَرَفَعْنَا and We raise بَعْضَهُمْ some of them فَوْقَ above بَعْضٍ others دَرَجَٰتٍ (in) degrees لِّيَتَّخِذَ so that may take, بَعْضُهُم some of them,
بَعْضًا others, سُخْرِيًّا (for) service. وَرَحْمَتُ But (the) Mercy رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord خَيْرٌ (is) better مِّمَّا than what يَجْمَعُونَ they accumulate. وَلَوْلَآ And if not
أَن that يَكُونَ (would) become ٱلنَّاسُ [the] mankind أُمَّةً a community وَٰحِدَةً one, لَّجَعَلْنَا We (would have) made لِمَن for (one) who يَكْفُرُ disbelieves بِٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ in the Most Gracious
لِبُيُوتِهِمْ for their houses سُقُفًا roofs مِّن of فِضَّةٍ silver وَمَعَارِجَ and stairways عَلَيْهَا upon which يَظْهَرُونَ they mount
إِنَّا "Indeed, we وَجَدْنَآ [we] found ءَابَآءَنَا our forefathers عَلَىٰٓ on أُمَّةٍ a religion, وَإِنَّا and indeed, we عَلَىٰٓ [on] ءَاثَٰرِهِم their footsteps مُّقْتَدُونَ (are) following."

وَلَمَّا And when جَآءَهُمُ came to them ٱلْحَقُّ the truth, قَالُوا۟ they said, هَٰذَا "This سِحْرٌ (is) magic, وَإِنَّا and indeed, we بِهِۦ of it كَٰفِرُونَ (are) disbelievers." وَقَالُوا۟ And they say,
لَوْلَا "Why not نُزِّلَ was sent down هَٰذَا this ٱلْقُرْءَانُ the Quran عَلَىٰ to رَجُلٍ a man, مِّنَ from ٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِ the two towns, عَظِيمٍ great?" أَهُمْ Do they
