So may he be destroyed,

he plotted!
ثُمَّ
Then
قُتِلَ
may he be destroyed,

he plotted!
ثُمَّ
Then
نَظَرَ
he looked;
ثُمَّ
Then
عَبَسَ
he frowned
وَبَسَرَ
and scowled;
ثُمَّ Then أَدْبَرَ he turned back وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ and was proud, فَقَالَ Then he said, إِنْ "Not هَٰذَآ (is) this إِلَّا but سِحْرٌ magic يُؤْثَرُ imitated. إِنْ Not هَٰذَآ (is) this
إِلَّا but قَوْلُ (the) word ٱلْبَشَرِ (of) a human being." سَأُصْلِيهِ Soon I will drive him سَقَرَ (into) Hell. وَمَآ And what أَدْرَىٰكَ can make you know مَا what سَقَرُ (is) Hell?
لَا Not تُبْقِى it lets remain وَلَا and not تَذَرُ it leaves, لَوَّاحَةٌ Scorching لِّلْبَشَرِ the human (skin). عَلَيْهَا Over it تِسْعَةَ (are) nine- عَشَرَ -teen. وَمَا And not جَعَلْنَآ We have made
أَصْحَٰبَ keepers ٱلنَّارِ (of) the Fire إِلَّا except مَلَٰٓئِكَةً Angels. وَمَا And not جَعَلْنَا We have made عِدَّتَهُمْ their number إِلَّا except فِتْنَةً (as) a trial لِّلَّذِينَ for those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve -
لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ that may be certain ٱلَّذِينَ those who أُوتُوا۟ were given ٱلْكِتَٰبَ the Scripture وَيَزْدَادَ and may increase ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوٓا۟ believe إِيمَٰنًا (in) faith, وَلَا and not يَرْتَابَ may doubt
ٱلَّذِينَ those who أُوتُوا۟ were given ٱلْكِتَٰبَ the Scripture وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ and the believers, وَلِيَقُولَ and that may say ٱلَّذِينَ those فِى in قُلُوبِهِم their hearts مَّرَضٌ (is) a disease
وَٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ and the disbelievers مَاذَآ "What أَرَادَ (does) intend ٱللَّهُ Allah بِهَٰذَا by this مَثَلًا example?" كَذَٰلِكَ Thus يُضِلُّ does let go astray ٱللَّهُ Allah مَن whom يَشَآءُ He wills
وَيَهْدِى and guides مَن whom يَشَآءُ He wills. وَمَا And none يَعْلَمُ knows جُنُودَ (the) hosts رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord إِلَّا except هُوَ Him. وَمَا And not هِىَ it إِلَّا (is) but ذِكْرَىٰ a reminder
لِلْبَشَرِ to (the) human beings. كَلَّا Nay! وَٱلْقَمَرِ By the moon, وَٱلَّيْلِ And the night إِذْ when أَدْبَرَ it departs, وَٱلصُّبْحِ And the morning إِذَآ when أَسْفَرَ it brightens, إِنَّهَا Indeed, it
لَإِحْدَى (is) surely one ٱلْكُبَرِ (of) the greatest, نَذِيرًا A warning لِّلْبَشَرِ to (the) human being, لِمَن To whoever شَآءَ wills مِنكُمْ among you أَن to يَتَقَدَّمَ proceed أَوْ or يَتَأَخَّرَ stay behind.
كُلُّ Every نَفْسٍۭ soul, بِمَا for what كَسَبَتْ it has earned, رَهِينَةٌ (is) pledged, إِلَّآ Except أَصْحَٰبَ (the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right, فِى In جَنَّٰتٍ Gardens,
يَتَسَآءَلُونَ asking each other, عَنِ About ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ the criminals, مَا "What سَلَكَكُمْ led you فِى into سَقَرَ Hell?" قَالُوا۟ They will say, لَمْ "Not نَكُ we were
مِنَ of ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ those who prayed, وَلَمْ And not نَكُ we used to نُطْعِمُ feed ٱلْمِسْكِينَ the poor, وَكُنَّا And we used to نَخُوضُ indulge in vain talk مَعَ with
ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ the vain talkers, وَكُنَّا And we used to نُكَذِّبُ deny بِيَوْمِ (the) Day ٱلدِّينِ (of) the Judgment, حَتَّىٰٓ Until, أَتَىٰنَا came to us ٱلْيَقِينُ the certainty."
ثُمَّ Then أَدْبَرَ he turned back وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ and was proud, فَقَالَ Then he said, إِنْ "Not هَٰذَآ (is) this إِلَّا but سِحْرٌ magic يُؤْثَرُ imitated. إِنْ Not هَٰذَآ (is) this
