وَلَمَّا
And when
جَآءَتْ
came
رُسُلُنَآ
Our messengers
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
(to) Ibrahim
بِٱلْبُشْرَىٰ
with the glad tidings
قَالُوٓا۟
they said,
إِنَّا
"Indeed, we
مُهْلِكُوٓا۟
(are) going to destroy
أَهْلِ (the) people هَٰذِهِ (of) this ٱلْقَرْيَةِ town. إِنَّ Indeed, أَهْلَهَا its people كَانُوا۟ are ظَٰلِمِينَ wrongdoers."
قَالَ He said, إِنَّ "Indeed, فِيهَا in it لُوطًا (is) Lut." قَالُوا۟ They said, نَحْنُ "We أَعْلَمُ know better بِمَن who فِيهَا (is) in it. لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ We will surely save him
وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ and his family, إِلَّا except ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ his wife. كَانَتْ She مِنَ (is) of ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ those who remain behind." وَلَمَّآ And when
أَن [that] جَآءَتْ came رُسُلُنَا Our messengers لُوطًا (to) Lut سِىٓءَ he was distressed بِهِمْ for them, وَضَاقَ and felt straitened بِهِمْ for them ذَرْعًا (and) uneasy.
وَقَالُوا۟ And they said, لَا "(Do) not تَخَفْ fear وَلَا and (do) not تَحْزَنْ grieve. إِنَّا Indeed, we مُنَجُّوكَ (will) save you وَأَهْلَكَ and your family, إِلَّا except
ٱمْرَأَتَكَ your wife. كَانَتْ She مِنَ (is) of ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ those who remain behind. إِنَّا Indeed, we مُنزِلُونَ (will) bring down عَلَىٰٓ on أَهْلِ (the) people
هَٰذِهِ (of) this ٱلْقَرْيَةِ town رِجْزًا a punishment مِّنَ from ٱلسَّمَآءِ (the) sky, بِمَا because كَانُوا۟ they have been يَفْسُقُونَ defiantly disobedient."
وَلَقَد And verily, تَّرَكْنَا We have left مِنْهَآ about it ءَايَةًۢ a sign, بَيِّنَةً (as) evidence لِّقَوْمٍ for a people يَعْقِلُونَ who use reason.
وَإِلَىٰ And to مَدْيَنَ Madyan أَخَاهُمْ their brother شُعَيْبًا Shuaib. فَقَالَ And he said, يَٰقَوْمِ "O my people! ٱعْبُدُوا۟ Worship ٱللَّهَ Allah
وَٱرْجُوا۟ and expect ٱلْيَوْمَ the Day ٱلْءَاخِرَ the Last, وَلَا and (do) not تَعْثَوْا۟ commit evil فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth مُفْسِدِينَ (as) corrupters."
فَكَذَّبُوهُ But they denied him, فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ so seized them ٱلرَّجْفَةُ the earthquake, فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ and they became فِى in دَارِهِمْ their home
جَٰثِمِينَ fallen prone. وَعَادًا And Aad وَثَمُودَا۟ and Thamud, وَقَد and verily, تَّبَيَّنَ (has) become clear لَكُم to you
مِّن from مَّسَٰكِنِهِمْ their dwellings. وَزَيَّنَ And made fair-seeming لَهُمُ to them ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ the Shaitaan أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ their deeds
فَصَدَّهُمْ and averted them عَنِ from ٱلسَّبِيلِ the Way, وَكَانُوا۟ though they were مُسْتَبْصِرِينَ endowed with insight.
أَهْلِ (the) people هَٰذِهِ (of) this ٱلْقَرْيَةِ town. إِنَّ Indeed, أَهْلَهَا its people كَانُوا۟ are ظَٰلِمِينَ wrongdoers."
قَالَ He said, إِنَّ "Indeed, فِيهَا in it لُوطًا (is) Lut." قَالُوا۟ They said, نَحْنُ "We أَعْلَمُ know better بِمَن who فِيهَا (is) in it. لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥ We will surely save him
